Artist Statement

Making art has always been important to me. Over years of exploring various media I have found there is always a struggle between technical processes and abstract goals. Artists are unfortunately confined to working in the real world, which is usually quite different from a better world they imagine or desire.

Yet, this dichotomy is perhaps the fundamental premise for artistic impulses. It is the prospect of new possibility that drives one forward. There is value in actualizing ideas. To me that value is related to personal development.

Variability on physical, technical, and conceptual levels represents great challenge to the determined artist. Essentially, art is a personal language that evolves constantly through continual interaction with subject matter. In my work I follow two basic tenets: keep exploring, and keep simplifying.
